On Saturday 11th June, Slow Motion: A Painting Symposium will be held in Belfast. This will co-incide with the exhibition of new works by the graduate class of 2015 and painting staff at the Crescent Arts Centre, also marking the closing of the 2016 Degree shows at Belfast School of Art.
Speakers confirmed are painters Robert Armstrong (NCAD, Dublin) and Fionna Murray (GMIT, Galway). More details and information to follow soon.
I will be chairing a discussion at The Irish Museum of Modern Art on the place of the artist's studio:
Tuesday 12 April 2016, 6 - 7pm, Lecture Room, IMMA Examining the context and place of the artist’s studio, this discussion draws on Edward McGuire’s studio as a catalyst for reflection on the shifting role, function and critique of the artist studio in arts practice and discourse today. Speakers include Nick Miller artist, Christina Kennedy, Head of Collections, and discussion moderator Dougal McKenzie, artist and Lecturer in Painting, Ulster University.
Visiting Professor Brian Bishop, a Boston based painter and faculty member at Framingham State University, MA, will be delivering this week's Thursday Artist's Talk, at 1pm in the Conor Lecture Theatre, Ulster University. All welcome.
